Description
Picnic tables sit beneath under massive old oaks, beaconing visitors to stop and enjoy the lush scenery behind the Frampton Plantation House in Yemassee, South Carolina. While the property was part of an original King’s Grant to the Frampton family in the 1700s, it now serves as a visitor information center and museum. The property has a rich history: burned by General Sherman in 1865; rebuilt in 1988; remodeled in 1930; and finally donated to the Lowcountry Tourism Commission in 1993. Today the old farmhouse has been restored and the beautiful old oaks have been preserved. Open to visitors every day of the week, it offers a unique look into South Carolina's rich history.
