Description
Shrimp boats sit idle at sunset on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Shem Creek got its name from the Native American word "Shemee". In the 1700s, the first industry started by settlers and colonists was shipbuilding. These ships were crewed by everyday farmers as well as confederate naval officers during the Civil War.
